The USS Hornet (CV-12) is a historic Essex-class aircraft carrier and now a museum ship in Alameda known for her service in WWII, the Vietnam War, and as the recovery vessel for Apollo 11 and 12. Commissioned in 1943, she is a National Historic Landmark that offers tours of her flight deck and hangar deck, as well as Apollo artifacts.

Its history touches everything from the sea to the moon. The museum is a hands-on place where people are encouraged to interact and learn. It features restored areas, over a dozen aircraft, and the largest Apollo exhibit on the West Coast.

Chabot Space & Science Center is a non-profit institution and community resource located on 13 trail-laced acres in Redwood Regional Park in Oakland amid the largest stand of coastal redwoods in the East Bay.
